The International Institute for Radical Forgiveness and Leadership (IIRFL) has been borne out of the Institute for Radical Forgiveness, which was developed by Colin Tipping in 1997. In 2018, Colin chosen Godfrey O’Flaherty to be the Custodian and owner of the Radical Forgiveness work. Godfrey has bought all the Radical Forgiveness Intellectual Property, as well as the business of Radical Forgiveness, as a Global Enterprise from Collin Tipping.
The Institute’s mission is to raise consciousness through expanding forgiveness across the globe. The IIRFL is the official international body which will govern all the work of Radical Forgiveness, globally.
Radical Forgiveness has been translated into 9 languages across 51 countries. The IIRFL accredit and register coaches across the globe, to add to its already thriving body of coaches and students.
Additionally, IIRFL will continue to expand its global reach, as it recently set up the Africa Institute Affiliate for IIRFL. The Africa Institute will work throughout the continent in the field of forgiveness and as a bridge-building institution for individuals, organizations and communities.
Training and Development
Under the direction of Godfrey O’Flaherty, we are establishing a Centre for Research, to focus on coaching research about the impact of forgiveness and healing of the body, mind and soul. The Institute is in the process of refreshing our current Radical Forgiveness Coaching and developing other future programs, including:
The IIRFL will house the Colin Tipping Foundation, in loving memory of Colin and his incredible work. This foundation will be a philanthropic organization, managed on behalf of funders. It aims to create projects and programs run under the Radical Forgiveness banner that will facilitate emotional healing around the world. Using the Radical Forgiveness methodologies, projects will include developing youth leaders, addressing gender base discrimination and guiding communities globally on dealing with social challenges. (Using the Radical Forgiveness technology, example projects include developing youth leaders, empowering woman and dealing with social challenges faced by communities around the world.)
IIRFL seeks to play a more active role in the education space. We aim to equip the youth globally, especially from disadvantageous communities to deal effectively with the challenges these communities face. With this aim in mind we strive to contribute constructively to the emotional wellbeing of young learners, throughout the world. The Colin Tipping philanthropy foundation will fund these international systemic forgiveness projects. The mission of the Colin Tipping Foundation is to facilitate emotional wellbeing, living with awareness and resilience which will enable learners to embrace, advance and develop their full human potential.
Finally, leadership development is also at the heart of the Institute’s future focus. With the IIRFL, Godfrey seeks to use his passion and experience in leadership development, by creating programs that will help leaders in communities, organizations and all walks of life to rise above their own egos and in so doing being released from their shadow that derails them from their purpose. In this way, the IIRFL aims to bring reconciliation and promote healing through Radical Forgiveness programs.
The International Institute for Radical Forgiveness and Leadership looks forward to partnering with you on this personal growth and development journey
Pre-Session Coaching Script
This is necessary in order that the person is able to respond naturally to the questions without having to struggle, at the time, to understand what is required. Stress that this is an eyes closed process, and they should definitely resist any temptation to open their eyes. It will take them right out of their process.
“I am going to take you through a series of steps, and for the most part, your role will simply be to repeat what I say to you. In other words, I will prompt you with what to say, just like a minister at a wedding!
“However, the first step does require you to state what it is that you are forgiving _________________ for what he/she did to you, etc. Also, in this step, I will ask you to say why you are choosing to forgive him/her now.
What we are looking for here are things like, “I want to be free,” “I want to go on with my life,” “I am tired of holding on to the past,” I want to feel peace around this issue,” and so on.
Then in Step Two, I will ask you to imagine that ___________________ is sitting right there in front of you — and I will ask you to tell him/her about the pain you have suffered because of them. Don’t water this down or add spiritual interpretations to this. Confront them fully as a victim. We’ll shift out of that later, but it is essential that we start from where you are (or were when this happened). I will ask you to close your eyes after step one. As you confront __________________ you will probably feel some emotion, and this is perfectly fine. In fact, I would encourage it. I have plenty of tissues nearby.
“The next couple of steps are just repeating things after me.
In Step Three you will simply answer ‘Yes’ to the four questions – even if you would rather say ‘No.’
During the fifth step, I will ask you to do some circular breathing, so I would like to coach you a little on this now – so you will know what to do when I give you that instruction. As you know, Radical Forgiveness is a shift in energy, brought about by a shift in perception.
Circular breathing is a way to integrate that energy shift and to anchor the change within every cell of your body, so you don’t go back to the old pattern. Circular breathing means breathing straight in and straight out through the mouth, with no pauses in between. It involves breathing deeply for a period of time. I am recommending that you do it for about 2 minutes. I will let you know when two minutes are up by this signal. (Bell or tapping sound.)
I think that’s about all I need to say now – unless you have any questions. Do you? Then let’s proceed. I would like you to be sitting comfortably with feet flat on the ground with your eyes closed.”
(Doing It Over the Phone)
I would like you to tell me what it is that you are choosing to forgive ____________ for. (When he/she has finished telling the story, tell them to close their eyes and to be sure to keep them closed for the rest of the process.)
OK, so now I want you to tell me why you want to forgive him/her, and the kind of reasons to give might be, for instance, I want to go on with my life. I know that holding on is harmful. I want to be free, and so on. So, now, repeat after me, “I want to forgive him/her because. . .”. Good.
Now, imagining ______ sitting there in front of you, tell him/her directly about the suffering he/she has caused you. Say it in as loud a voice as possible, how you truly felt. Don’t make excuses or overlay spiritual or psychological interpretations. Just say how it was for you and how it felt or feels, even now.
When feelings start to come up, notice where in your body they seem to be located. Don’t judge them. Allow yourself to feel them fully now. Let me know when you are ready to go on to Step Three.
Excellent.
I am now going to ask you 4 questions, and I want you to answer me with a loud ‘YES’ to each question. There is ‘no’ option here. The only valid answer is ‘yes.’ No is not an option. Here is the first question.
• Even though you may not understand why, are you willing to recognize that your soul has created this situation for your spiritual growth? (YES) …
• And that, you were, in that sense, getting exactly what you unconsciously wanted from __________ ? (YES).
• Are you now able to see that this situation is giving you an opportunity to heal something within you? (YES)
• Are you now, therefore, ready and willing to cancel your contract with _______ , and to let go of your unconscious need to stay a victim? (YES)
Extend your hands outwards to _______ , and pretend to take his/her hands in yours. Now, repeat after me: “I recognize that even though I may not understand why____ I have co-created this situation with you____ so that we both may grow and learn. I honor the part of you____ that has been willing to play this role for my healing, and I see you now as a blessing in my life. I honor the part of me ____that has been willing to play a role for your healing ____ and I honor myself ____ as having been a blessing in your life.”
Good, now bring your hands back to your lap.
Now, as you drop into your heart and become fully connected to your Higher Self, you might begin to feel a sensation somewhere in your body — perhaps a tingling, or a pinprick, or a surge of energy, as you begin to surrender to the Love vibration that flows from your Higher Self. Let me know by saying ‘Yes,’ when you feel that sensation somewhere in your body. [Wait] Good! Even if you haven’t felt anything yet, that’s fine too.
Open your heart fully now, to receive that unconditional love. Begin conscious breathing now, and allow this love to flow into every part of you, healing all the hurt and pain, knowing that the Higher Self knows exactly what to do to complete the healing. I will let you know when the two minutes are up but take your time in bringing your breathing back to its normal rate. (Wait until everyone seems to be complete.)
When you feel ready, extend your hands outward again to ____ and say, “I send unconditional love out to you now____, I unconditionally love and support you____ just the way you are____, how you have been____ , and the way you will be in the future____ I bless you for giving me the opportunity to heal.”
Now put your hands over your heart and say after me, “I send unconditional love to myself now, just the way I am, how I have been, and the way I will be in the future.”
Pretending to keep holding the person’s hands, repeat after me, “__________, the beautiful, wonderful qualities that I see in you that you reflect back to me are…” (now name as many positive qualities as you can that you see in this person.)
When you are ready, open your eyes.”
