Module 1 – Lesson 2: Happiness and Radical Forgiveness

Module 1: Being a Radical Living Master Coach

Video Two: Happiness and Radical Forgiveness

Hi, there. Welcome to Video 2 in which we explore the relationship between happiness and Radical Forgiveness.

Now, happiness and mindfulness are actually the two hot topics right now. Both are connected in important ways to Radical Living in general and Radical Forgiveness in particular. Even though we’re going to spend a whole module on happiness, in Module #11, we want to make mention of it briefly right now.

Happiness is a very difficult and slippery concept to define. The best we can do is to find words that tend to go with happiness, like joyful, blissful, ecstatic, exhilarated, euphoric, jubilant, lighthearted, fulfilled, and so on. Even then, these feelings can be fleeting and maybe rather infrequently felt.

Equally, one can just as easily be beset by feelings that are the antithesis of happiness, like despair, dissatisfaction, gloom, melancholy, misery, sadness, grief, anger, and sorrow.
Words like this describe what it is to experience being human. Nature gives us the ability to feel the full range of feelings from bliss right through to despair and where we are at any point in time is a function of many other factors.

We will examine some of these in Module 11, but we want to mention mindfulness briefly here, to show how that relates to the process of Radical Forgiveness.

You will recall from the work you did in Part One, that we put a lot of importance on our willingness to be really mindful of how we are feeling and what we were feeling at the time we were experiencing the upset.

Of the 5 Stages of Radical Forgiveness, this was Stage 2. We will say more about mindfulness and our ability to identify our feelings in Module #11.

What we are willing to say now, with a measure of certainty, is that we can never be happy if we are holding onto victim stories that feed on emotions like anger and resentment, grief and anxiety, regret and disappointment. Our investment of energy in holding onto those stories depletes our life force to where it is all but impossible to be happy.

So, there you have it. When you consider that one in five people are taking antidepressant medication, the suicide rate is climbing, and half the world is worried sick about their future, it is clear that we need never be short of clients. Especially if you sell them on the idea that you may have the key to their happiness. And by the way, it’s easier to sell happiness than forgiveness! You can also tell people that you have the solution to all their problems that get in the way of being happy, peaceful, and free.

And, that’s not a far-fetched thing to claim. When you really think about it, there really is no problem of an emotional nature for which Radical Forgiveness is not the solution.  We actually challenge you to find one.

We would like to share a video that illustrates this really well. It is based on the writings of Caroline Myss, mostly from her book, Why People Don’t Heal and How They Can. It will also show exactly how and why happiness can be restored through Radical Forgiveness.

So, enjoy the video and we’ll be back in Lesson 3 which is about positioning yourself as the person who can restore your clients’ happiness and solve their problem.
